Kate and Doug's Wet and Wild Wedding

Never being a bride myself I can only imagine that the last thing any bride would wish for is a rainy wedding day. While I've been quite lucky so far it would seem my luck had "dried up" on this particular occasion.
The view outside the greenhouse that was my car could be likened to a scene from The Perfect Storm. The world was washed over with the colour grey, which didn't exactly inspire confidence for the opportunity to shoot the bright and vibrant photos everyone loves.
After a brief layover at McDonalds for what we in the industry refer to it as a "Power Breakfast" we headed to the church to survey lighting and vantage points for the ceremony. From what I've been told the church is an integral part of Windsor's history and is the resting place of many of the town's founding families. We stepped inside the church and were quite pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it looked even with only the dim light coming in from outside. It offered a good alternative if indeed the weather did decide not to clear up.
We then headed over to Kate's house, which would later that day double as the reception venue to capture some of the traditional preparation shots. We scouted the property, which happened to be a large balinese styled home fit for one of those glossy architecture magazines, for the couple and group shots we would be doing later. The design conveniently lent itself to the possibility of wet weather shooting with alot of overhead cover being incorporated. All this worry though proved to be quite needless as the weather began to clear up as we were shooting the dress in Kate's bedroom.
I guess the thing you can take away from this, the gem if you will, is regardless of what mother nature plans to do you gotta remain positive, if you keep a level head the pictures will present themselves. The moments that make a great wedding photo consist 90% of people and emotion and only 10% location. All in all we were quite happy with what we had produced on the day and hopefully Doug and Kater were too. It was definitely a pleasure to share their wonderful day with them and we thank them for the opportunity.
