Seascapes, Sunrises & Being Stung

On a recent get away my friend asked me what made me decide this photography thing is what I wanted to do. Well I've always loved photography, as kid though I was happy to be on either side of the camera. The whole chemistry behind making the images was always magical to me.

The real turning point however did not come until much later in life. A few years back I was sitting down having breakfast, while this would be mundane in any other situation, at the time I happened to be sitting by the crystal clear turquoise coloured waters of the Adaman Sea on the island of Koh Phi Phi in Thailand. It really hit me as a moment of utter clarity, everything around me could be gone. Up until that point I'd spent a lot of my time stuck in an office, behind a desk, in front of a computer. It definitely wasn't where I wanted to be anymore, it became a must for me to find something that would put me out in world.

At the time I was travelling with a Pentax K10D and a kit lens but even with such basic equipment, photography possessed the same power it always had since it first began. To capture moments, communicate a message and make people aware.

Back to present day, it's been far too long since I've been out to shoot what I love most., the natural world around us. So last night as a spur of the moment thing, me and the boys, Dan and Tai decided to brave the miserable weather and take our chances with a sunrise shoot. Purely because that's how we ROLL, EXTREME photographers! LOL! My first ever attempt at this and I definitely had a great time. I intend to be out doors a lot more this year. Hope you enjoy.

On a final note, I was innitiated into the whole seascape thing after getting stung by a blue bottle trying to prop myself up somewhere to get a shot. Not too fond of the idea of someone peeing on my foot. I endured the pain and was rewarded with a McDonald's Sausage and Egg McMuffin and a Caramel Thick Shake. I doused my foot in vinegar when I got home for anyone who may or may not be concerned. Told you I was EXTREME! Hahaha
